About Churchity
Churchity is a content management system for ministries and other nonprofit organizations designed to be collaborative and flexible.
Churchity was created when I found out how much others were charging ministries for a content management solution. Content management is a huge buzzword right now, in some ways taking the web by storm. As the Director of Media and Technology for my church (Bykota Ministries, a mid-sized Midwestern church) and a computer programmer/network administrator by trade, I needed an easy way to let various parts of our ministry control their own areas, and it was a requirement that I not be necessary to getting changes made. I looked around, and everyone was charging way more than I could justify. I have been called to serve ministries in the areas of technology, where I have been abundantly blessed, so I set out on the path of creating a ministry-focused CMS that would be affordable even for small ministries. I was familiar with several CMSes from working on them at several companies, so I started fresh and built the features I knew would be necessary. Churchity has been powering sites in beta form for nearly two years now, growing in features along the way. If I've needed it for our website, it's been added - and if it's something you need once you're a customer it will at the very least be strongly considered - and if I turn it down, it will be for a good reason.
Churchity has been designed from the beginning to be multi-user. It also requires no software to be installed on the computers it is managed from – just a web browser. (Right now Firefox and Internet Explorer are best, Safari does not support the rich-text editor yet)
Capabilities include:
- Pages edit as if they were in Word (and must be manually "published" - so you can rough draft all you want and share those rough drafts without visitors seeing them)
- Form Builder allows on-the-fly creation of any type of form you may want (registration and feedback are the two most common) and stores the data users submit through those forms (you can easily create forms to register for anything - retreats, missions, etc.)
- Navigation menus are dynamically created - you may add or delete pages and sections anytime you wish
- Pages can be "hidden" and only available to people who know where to look for them
- Multi-user and collaborative for easy maintenance by a team or leaders of certain groups
Who can help me with a Churchity site?
Churchity makes heavy use of templates, making it is easy to integrate with any design you choose. We will help you integrate Churchity with a pre-made template you have purchased, or work with your designer to make sure your site is designed to take advantage of Churchity's features.
If you do not have a designer to work with, we strongly recommend Scott Yearton. He's done a lot of designs for Churchity sites and knows the system very well. (I'd call him the "official" Churchity designer -Adam)
