Churchity 1.0 was released in early 2007 and development is still continuing.  However, instead of continuing down the 1.0 path the decision was made to begin the rewrite immediately for what will become Churchity 2.0.

Churchity 2.0 has left the original PHP architecture of Churchity 1.0 for a new architecture using Python and the Django Framework.  This new architecture will allow more flexibility, scalability and better templating.  The core of how Churchity works, however, will not change - it will retain the same features and will work almost entirely the same for the end-user.  The administration section will be receiving a redesign to make it both more friendly and easier to use.

A release date has not been made available for Churchity 2.0 at this point.  The release is likely to take place slowly, as it is very likely when version 2.0 is deployed it will not be optimized for use on the hosting systems we use now, making a host move a necessity.
